NEWSFEED.ID, Tangerang Selatan — In my opinion, interpretation is not as easy as it looks. Before I learned about it, I thought interpretation was only about changing words from one language to another. Now, as a student who is learning interpretation, I understand that interpretation is the process of changing spoken language from one language into another in real time. An interpreter listens to a speaker and delivers the meaning so that people who speak different languages can understand each other.

Interpretation works by listening carefully, understanding the message, and speaking clearly at the same time or shortly after the speaker finishes speaking. This requires strong concentration because the interpreter cannot stop or check a dictionary. The interpreter must think fast and stay focused.

Interpretation happens because people from different countries and cultures need to communicate. It is used in live situations such as meetings, conferences, classes, interviews, courts, hospitals, and business events. Today, interpretation also happens in online meetings.

In my opinion, being an interpreter is challenging because it is not only about language skills but also about understanding culture. Different cultures have different ways of speaking and expressing meaning. There are many challenges, such as fast speakers and unfamiliar topics. However, I believe these challenges can be overcome by learning more and practicing regularly. Even though interpretation is difficult, it is an important and valuable skill to learn.
